Salma Hayek is a Mexican and American actress and producer, also known as Salma Valgarma Hayek Jiménez. She was born in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico on September 2, 1966. She is the daughter of father Sami Hayek Dominguez, an oil company executive who once ran for mayor of Coatzacoalcos, and mother Diana Jiménez Medina, an opera singer and talent scout. Hayek has a younger brother Sami Hayek Jr, a furniture designer. Her father is of Lebanese Mexican, while her mother is of Spanish Mexican ancestry from the city of Baabdat, Lebanon. She studied at Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau, Louisiana, and then she joined Ramtha’s School of Enlightenment. She also enrolled in Universidad Iberoamericana.
Hayek was in a relationship with English actor Edward Atterton from 1997 to 1999. She also dated American actor Edward Norton from 1999 to 2003. Later, she started dating to American actor Josh Lucas in August 2003 and the split in July 2004. After that, she began a relationship with EO of Kering François-Henri Pinault in 2007 and she announced their engagement with François on March 9, 2007. They welcomed their first child as daughter Valentina Paloma Pinault on September 21, 2007, and they split on July 18, 2008. Later, the couple comes back together, and then they got married on February 14, 2009, in Paris. They married a second time in Venice, Italy on April 25, 2009.
Career
The beautiful actress Salma is best known for playing the role of Frida Kahlo in the film Frida in 2002, and she was nominated for many awards including Academy Award, BAFTA Award, Golden Globe Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award. She is also popular as Carolina’s role in the film Desperado in 1995. She played Fabiola’s role in her first television show in Un Nuevo Amanecer in 1988, and she started her career in films with Gata’s role in the movie Mi Vida Loca in 1993. Hayek also appeared as Sofia Reyes Nurse in Telenovela on the television series Ugly Betty from 2006 to 2010. She also starred as Luisa in the film As Luck Would Have It (La chispa de la vida) in 2011, and she was nominated for the Goya Award for Best Actress.
