Elizabeth Irene Mitchell is an American actress, director, producer, and writer, known professionally as Elizabeth Banks. She was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, United States on February 10, 1974. She is the daughter of father Mark P. Mitchell, a Vietnam War veteran and was a factory worker for General Electric, and mother Ann Mitchell worked at a bank. Banks has a younger brother Geoff Mitchell. She completed her schooling from Pittsfield High School and then she studied at the University of Pennsylvania. She also attended the American Conservatory Theater.
Banks started dating sportswriter and producer Max Handelman in 1992, and the duo got married on July 5, 2003. She gave birth to her first child, son Felix Handelman in March 2011 and they welcomed their second child, son Magnus Mitchell Handelman in November 2012.
Elizabeth gained fame for Avery Jessup’s role in the television series 30 Rock from 2010 to 2012, and she was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Awards and Gold Derby Awards. She made debut her acting career with Vicki’s role in the film Surrender Dorothy in 1998, and she started her career on television with Rosalie’s role in the television series All My Children in 1999. She also played a stunning role in the films includes as Marcela Howard in Seabiscuit (2003), as Beth in The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005), and as Paris in Magic Mike XXL (2015). Banks portrayed Effie Trinket’s role in The Hunger Games film franchise, and she appeared as Lydia Mercer’s role in the film Man on a Ledge in 2012. She also starred as Gail Abernathy-McKadden in the Pitch Perfect film franchise.
