Amanda Tapping is a British-Canadian actress and director, who was born in Rochford, Essex, England on August 28, 1965. She moved to Ontario, Canada with her family, when she was three years. She has three brothers Steven Tapping, and Richard Tapping, and Christopher Tapping. Steven died in December 2006. Tapping attended North Toronto Collegiate Institute and then she joined the University Of Windsor School of Dramatic Arts in Windsor, Ontario.
Tapping started a relationship with Allan Kovacs in 1994 and the couple got married on September 23, 1994. They stay together in Vancouver, British Columbia, and the couple has a daughter Olivia B. Kovacs, born on 22 March 2005.
Amanda gained fame for her role as Samantha Carter on the television series Stargate SG-1 from 1997 to 2007. She began her acting career with Dr. Naomi Ross’s role in the television series Forever Knight in 1995 and she made a debut in films with Cassie’s role in the film The Donor in 1995. She also starred as Samantha Carter on the television series Stargate Atlantis (2005–2009) and Stargate Universe (2009–2010). She also played a magnificent role as Dr. Helen Magnus on the television series Sanctuary from 2007 to 2011.
